Apparatus
Tower Ladder 43
Tower Ladder 43 is a 2011 Seagrave with a 1971 Baker 75-foot Aerialscope ladder. Refurbished in 2011 with a new Seagrave chassis, TL43 is the only Tower Ladder in the Town of Darien. The ladder's bucket allows for safe rescue of victims from upper windows, and can be lowered to ground-level 35 feet away from the truck.
A TFT Monsoon remote-controllable deck gun attached on the bucket allows fire fighters to pump 2,000 gallons-per-minute of water into fires from an elevated position. Large air cylinders attached to the ladder's sides allow fire fighters to stay on breathing-air for extended periods.
TL43 seats six fire fighters with integrated SCBA air packs in the seats. Interior features include handheld Motorola radios, four-gas meters, and thermal imaging camera. The apparatus carries a full complement fire suppression tools including over 150 ft of ground ladders, a variety of saws, fans, lights, spare air cylinders, a RIT pack with two 1-hour cylinders and rescue tools, and more.
