Tanker 45

Tanker 45 is a 1996 Mack/S&S truck with a 2,500 gallon water tank. It includes seating for a driver and officer, water dump chutes at rear and operable from inside the cab, a portable pool, and a variety of vehicle and structural fire fighting equipment.

The tanker is outfitted with full structural fire fighting equipment including SCBA, portable radios, portable lights, extinguishers, and multiple 1-3/4" and 2-1/2" preconnect attack lines in the crosslays. By heavily customizing the tanker's design, we can deliver more water than a tanker and engine combined. Because we include preconnect attack lines and additional fire suppression tools, if needed T45 can serve as a pumper-engine or draft-engine with attack lines stretched directly from the apparatus while supplying ample water.

The Town of Darien has some areas with no fire hydrants, as do neighboring towns. In addition, Darien's section of I-95 is one of the most heavily trafficked corridors in the nation; the Exit-13 Rest Stop sees more hazmat cargoes than most. Our tanker plays a role in supplying water quickly to these unique situations; when requested for Mutual Aid to incidents outside town; and the many car fires, tractor-trailer incidents and alarms involving hazmat cargo.
