The old Tokeneke Elementary School was used just prior to its scheduled demolition for various live-fire training scenarios. Included in these disciplines were vertical (roof) ventilation, hose advancement, search-and-rescue, and water shuttle.

Five Darien Fire Department Firefighters participated in the St. Baldrick’s Day charity on Thursday, March 13, 2008. St. Baldrick’s is the world’s largest volunteer-driven fundraising event for childhood cancer research.
Thousands of volunteers shave their heads in solidarity of children with cancer, while requesting donations of support from friends and family. The event which was located at Bradford’s Bar and Grill in Stamford generated $96,874 for childhood cancer research.

The Darien Fire Department recently took delivery of two new custom-designed Pierce Enforcer engines representing the latest in firefighting capability, efficiency and safety. The pumper trucks, built by Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton, Wis., replace two Mack engines that have been in service with the DFD for more than two and three decades, respectively.
